The journey toward a Classroom4TheFuture has been an amazingly insightful, inspiring, and rewarding experience. I feel I have always been an innovative instructor and strive to put the educational needs of students first.
I want to teach in a diversified way which reaches ALL students.
I want students to leave my classroom feeling challenged, inspired, and educated.
I want students to feel comfortable in my classroom. Comfortable to ask for help, speak their thoughts, and work hard.
I want to stay current in my field so the information students are learning can be taken directly into the real world.
I want to give students choice and a voice in the classroom.
I want to incorporate skills for the future which include critical thinking, collaboration, initiative, curiosity, and problem solving.
Reflecting on this redesigned classroom, and I have stated this many times, this process is not about the furniture. All of the
"I want..." statements are now "I CAN..." statement.
Stepping back and looking at my classroom environment from a bird's-eye view and a learner point-of-view really opened my eyes to the teaching and learning potential there CAN be on a daily basis. The furniture simply allows for this to happen.
